Title: I'm Alive and I'm Not High: A Decade of Sobriety
Ten years ago, my life was a dark and tumultuous journey through the depths of addiction. Every day was a battle between my desire for a high and the crumbling reality of my existence. But today, I stand before you, a living testament to the power of change and resilience. I'm alive, and I'm not high.
A decade ago, I couldn't have imagined a life without drugs or alcohol. My addiction was a relentless monster, consuming every aspect of my being. It took away my family, my friends, and my self-esteem. I had no desire to get clean even though my life was crumbling. When i look back there was that one moment that stood out from all the moments that changed me. My father sitting on the edge of a bed, weeks away from death from cancer saying, "I've been such a fool."
Recovery wasn't easy. It required a commitment to healing, self-discovery, and a relentless pursuit of a better life. I sought support from those who had walked the same path, leaned on my focus for a better life, and found solace in the embrace of a loving community.
One day at a time, I rebuilt my life. I rediscovered my passions, mended broken relationships, and nurtured my physical and mental health. Sobriety became my greatest achievement, a daily reminder that I could conquer the seemingly insurmountable.
Today, as I celebrate ten years clean, I want to tell anyone struggling with addiction that change is possible. You are not alone, and your life is worth saving. I'm alive, and I'm not high, and I'm here to tell you that you can be too.
